I had nearly given up on Coldplay as they have eluded me multiple times as I try and see them live (the most notable was when my apartment caught on fire the night before I was to see them on the “Rush of Blood To The Head” tour and I decided to do the responsible thing and look for a new place to live thus selling my ticket), but it all changed when I met Chris Martin at a screening of the movie “Anvil” earlier this year. You can see that amazing picture here. I thought the rain was going to prevent me from seeing Coldplay tonight, but it let up and we were sure in for a treat!
My brain is on music overload as I’ve seen the likes of Green Day and Grace Jones this week, not to mention, today alone, I saw MGMT, Elbow and Echo and the Bunnymen, so if you have the complete set list, please post it! From what I can remember, they played hit after hit with “Clocks,” “In My Place,” “Talk,” “Fix You,” “Strawberry Swing,” “Viva La Vida,” and “God Put A Smile On Your Face” The Beastie Boys were supposed to play on the first night of the festival but had to cancel due to an ailing band member, so Chris Martin did an awesome piano version of the Beasties’ “Fight For Your Right To Party” as a tribute to absent friends. Coldplay seems to be a love ’em or hate ’em band, and I love ’em!
