The rumour going ’round is that Michael Jackson will be buried today, on what would have been his 51st birthday. In tribute to the man who touched us all in places we can’t speak about, above is some “bad” street art. Hopefully the man who never got a break from the craziness of life is resting peacefully.

Here’s a fun fact about me: when I was in elementary school, several of my friends entered the talent show to perform “I’m a little teapot.” We didn’t win, unfortunately, but we have all since recovered. I’d completely forgotten about that moment until I saw the above sticker with our President’s face on it. I think it’s cute. What do you think?

Tonight I witnessed a scene out of old New York. At artist Gilles Larrain’s studio in Soho, there was an infamous Art Party. Gilles Larrain took the cover shot of Miles Davis’ albums “Aura” and “Decoy,” and once a month, he opens this legendary studio for an art party. Throughout the evening, you’ll witness performances, performance art and they even have models posing while local artists are encouraged t0 make renderings (At one point, the artists had 20 minutes to draw and the results were outstanding!) The crowd is elegant and smart, but not pretentious. You can mingle with New York’s elite without feeling like you are a misfit. The party happens once a month and you can read more about it here. Famous artists Thomas Shelford and Louda invite you to look over their shoulder while they create brilliance and are happy to explain their craft. These parties cannot be missed. This is very exciting news! The Family, a side project that Prince produced in 1985, has reunited. Apparently he didn’t want them using the name he created, so they said “fine, f–k you, you little hypocritical twerp” and have rechristened themselves as F Deluxe. The Family as well as F Deluxe is St. Paul Peterson, Susannah Melvoin, Eric Leeds, Jerome Benton and Jellybean Johnson. There’s no word on a release date for their album, but if you click here, you can get a free mp3 of their newest song: “@ 8.”
I was fortunate enough to see them live as part of Sheila E.’s Family Jamm a few years ago and age has been very kind to this funky band! They were every bit as tight as they were in 1985. I am VERY excited for this record and if they are reading this blog, PLEASE COME TO NEW YORK!!!!
