Joe Strummer of the Clash. Photo by G.
I came across this really cool mural of Joe Strummer (most famously known for his work in the band The Clash) in New York’s Lower East Side.
If you never got a chance to see the documentary about his life, The Future is Unwritten, it’s really great so check it out.

Britney Spears - "Live" at Madison Square Garden August 24, 2009. All photos by G.
While I am not a fan of Britney Spears, I am very happy that she has rebounded from tabloid fodder to being able to dance again. I attended the opening night of her 3-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden. She pulled out all the hits for this sold out show. Unfortunately, she didn’t do much singing – in fact, the only time she used her microphone at all was to welcome the crowd, to sing one song while seated and to count to 10 while she made her dancers do push-ups. At least for the majority of the show, she didn’t even bother holding a microphone, so at least she wasn’t trying to fool anyone. In that sense, without the use of microphones, the Circus Tour is eco-friendly. With that aside, she danced her butt off and the crowd, which consisted primarily of teeny-bopper girls and gay men, went wild during every song.

The cutest photo EVER! Photo credit: Harold Dicker
It’s no secret that this blog and all of the other fabulous things I get to do would not be possible without my mother, who celebrates her birthday today. Please take a moment to send good vibes her way on this most special day. I love you Mom!
