French rock band Phoenix played their second of two sold out shows in New York’s Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on September 26, 2009.  A little bit of rain did not stop these French rockers from making the audience dance, groove and lose control as they played hit after hit including their new single “Liztomania.”  A few fun facts about Phoenix (try saying that 1o times fast!):  Phoenix started off as the backing band for the group Air on a remix of “Kelly Watch The Stars.”  Some of the members also split off to join the band that would eventually become Daft Punk.

On September 26, 2009, Boston band Passion Pit played the second of two sold out shows at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Opening for French band Phoenix, Passion Pit got the crowd warmed up with their mix of electro, pop and rock.  When they played their hit single, “Sleepyhead,” the crowd went absolutely crazy!  Lead singer Michael Angelakos has a voice that is a cross between MGMT, Scissor Sisters and Mika.  This is definitely a band to watch.

I wonder what Roger and Demi Moore, respectively, think of this sign.

I’ll freely admit, I am not the biggest fan of U2.  I think a lot of their songs are overrated and I don’t think they take enough chances, but the one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that they are incredible live performers.  I decided to see what all the hype was about, and I must say, as performers, they deserve every kudo they get.  Playing to a record audience of 82,000 people at Giants Stadium in New Jersey on September 24, 2009, U2 made the crowd go absolutely bonkers for 2 solid hours.  Their set “The Claw” (see photo below), is one of the largest stage setups in concert history and as soon as you see this show, you’ll want one really bad!
