I don’t know about you, but I was a huge fan of the sci-fi mini-series V that aired in the late 1980s. Sure the special effects were cheesy and some of the acting might have been a little less than Emmy worthy, but the concept of humans no longer being on top of the food chain as they fought to take the world back from the Visitors was so awesome. I revisit my DVDs of the series fairly often and I love every minute of them. The books were great too. I still have my first edition book by A.C. Crispin in the G archives.
When I heard that V was being remade, I of course hoped that they’d keep the story the same and perhaps improve upon some of the lowlights I mentioned above. Not the case. New characters have been introduced, new sub-plots and modern day technology have been introduced into the new series that is debuting on November 3. Apparently the test screenings for the show have been so dreadful that instead of airing all the episodes weekly, the network will tease us with a few episodes and then keep us waiting for more until next year. This ploy seemed to work for the show Glee, but fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us.
V debuts on November 3, 2009.
