To celebrate the fact that Lady Gaga has scored her 5th #1 single with “Bad Romance,” According2g.com would like to present a lyrical interpretation of the song. My commentary is in bold.

Read it after the jump.

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance

So far, so good. Throw in some oh’s and ooh’s and get this song started off right.

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!
Roma-Roma-ma-ah!
Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!
Want your bad romance

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!
Roma-Roma-ma-ah!
Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!
Want your bad romance

Roma, Roma-ma?  Is that short for romance? Is she referring to the BBQ restaurant Tony Roma’s?  This is where things fall apart for me (and we are about 25 seconds into the song).

I want your ugly
I want your disease
I want your everything
As long as it’s free
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love

She wants your ugly?  Should she just read these lyrics?

She wants your disease?  Haven’t we spent the last 20 years preaching safe sex, condoms, Smokey the bear, etc?  What kind of message is this sending?

She wants your everything as long as it’s free? I have some left-over pasta in the fridge.

I want your drama
The touch of your hand
I want you leather studded kiss in the sand
And I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love

She wants drama?  Having the number one song in the country, guess what she’s encouraging everyone else to want?

Also, I think she is sending the message that drama = love.  I can tell you from experience, it doesn’t have to be that way.

You know that I want you
And you know that I need you
I want a bad,your bad romance

I want your loving
And I want your revenge
You and me could write a bad romance
I want your loving
All your love is revenge
You and me could write a bad romance

She’s talking about writing a bad romance with her lover.  I think she meant to say “I could write some bad lyrics”

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!
Roma-Roma-ma-ah!
Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!
Want your bad romance

She wants a bad romance.  The universe always says “ask and you shall receive.”  Keep that in mind next time you are singing these lyrics out loud.

I want your horror
I want your design
Cause you’re a criminal
As long as your mine
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love

She wants her lover’s horror?  Shouldn’t she just look at some of the outfits she’s worn?

I want your psycho
Your vertical stick
Want you in my room
When your baby is sick
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love

Vertical stick. A euphemism for penis.  Finally, a bit of poetry!  Ooh-la-la!

You know that I want you
And you know that I need you
I want a bad,your bad romance

I want your loving
And I want your revenge
You and me could write a bad romance
I want your loving
All your love is revenge
You and me could write a bad romance

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh!

Now, I’ll admit, this is a highly catchy tune, but these lyrics stink on ice…. According2g.

Oh darling – it is an AMAZING song who cares if the lyrics are a bit silly! Pitchfork named it one of the top songs of the year…….. are you going to be this critical at the show? What fun will you be???

LOL. A brilliant interpretation. Her lyrics may be nonsensical, but I still can’t get the song out of my head. 🙂
