Jesse Smith

Guess who Jesse Smith’s parents are?

The answer after the jump.

Accomplished pianist Jesse Smith opened for Karen Elson’s solo debut in New York on March 22, 2010 at Le Poisson Rouge in the West Village.  She played the piano while her on stage partner Michael Campbell played the xylophone.  She didn’t speak at all during the performance and Campbell uttered just a few words.  As the performance was 95% instrumental, I can’t really say too much, other than the fact that I enjoyed it very much.

So who is Jesse Smith related to?  Her mother is also the God-Mother of punk, Patti Smith.  Her father is the late Fred “Sonic” Smith of the band MC5.  A fun fact about her parents:  Patti used to often joke that she only married Fred Smith so that she wouldn’t have to change her last name.  That’s great logic, according2g.

Jesse Smith - shyness does not run in the family.

Thanks for the pingback. But I want to point out that Michael was not playing tubular bells last night, but rather xylophone.

Thanks Steven! I’ll make the correction. Cool site, by the way!

I did not know that. Looks like According2G is gonna be the new music ‘Wiki’.

Great pics and write-up! Although, I’m not sure a shy person would freely get onstage and perform music they’ve written-they might choose a different profession, like working in an office! Often times the only person onstage doing the talking is the one with the mic for singing. It is refreshing though to go to a show without any stage banter. So not sure about shyness, but as for what runs in the family, it’s definitely music!
