Mark Ryden and G!

On April 29, 2010 at the opening reception for artist Mark Ryden‘s latest exhibition: The Gay 90s Olde Tyme Art Show at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea, I met the brilliant artist.  For the non-art people reading this site, he designed Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” album cover; however, definitely check out his other work – it’s incredible!  If you are specifically interested in the album cover art he’s designed, here you go.  He was super nice and also super mobbed.  I always sort of feel bad for artists at their own openings as every single person wants a piece of you, so it’s hard to enjoy the reactions of people seeing your work for the first time.  Well, Mr. Ryden, if you indeed missed it, everyone I spoke to in the gallery loved it with a capital L.  Thanks again for enriching my life with really inspiring art and being so nice.  And New Yorkers – the exhibit runs through June 5, 2010, so don’t miss it.  Photos from the exhibit are coming soon.  Stay tuned.

Thanks for posting the album cover art link G! I have that Inger Lorre CD, and while in retrospect much of his work is instantly recognizable as Ryden’s signature style, I really had no idea he’d done any of this.
