They had me at “We’re called ‘Laminated Cat.'” Opening up for Apples In Stereo at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on April 21, 2010, Georgia based band Laminated Cat hit the stage for a lively set that was very psychedelic. The songs they played were long jams that changed from fast to slow tempos and typically ended on a really heavy note. I was loving it. The two front men took turns on vocal duties and the bass player and drummer really played the hell out of their instruments. Will this neo-Beatles band be the next big thing? Judge for yourself by downloading a free mp3, while supplies last of their song “Aquamarine” from their latest album “Umbrella Weather” here. As a side note, when I Google Imaged the name “laminated cat,” one of the photos that came up was an actual photo of a laminated cat, so if you decide to do the same, make sure your key word search has the word “band” afterwards.
