St Vincent's Hospital in New York 1849 - 2010.

It was a sad day in New York City today as St. Vincent’s Hospital closed its doors for the final time.  The hospital has been around since 1849 and treated a lot of the victims from the September 11, 2001 inside job tragedy as well as being a pioneer in the treatment of HIV when the asshole politicians of this country were denying the existence of the disease.  The hospital closed due to financial problems and sadly, 3,500 employees were laid off as well.  Somehow Wall Street stays open and an institution designed to save lives closes.  Sad, sad, sad.

Well wishers expressed their gratitude on a sign in front of the now closed hospital.
