Diana Ross!

On May 19, 2010, the legendary Diana Ross played a sold out show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.  Billed as “The Greatest Hits Tour,” Miss Ross sure made good on her promise.  She took the stage around 8:20 pm and played hit after hit for about an hour and 40 minutes.  She had 6 costume changes, each outfit looking more fabulous than the one before it, and she looked and sounded flawless.  She even managed to throw in a few covers – Burt Bacharach’s “The Look of Love,” Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” and Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone,” of which she dedicated both the song and the entire tour to his memory.  Before those songs, she took us on a trip down memory lane, playing Supremes classics “Reflections,” “Stop In The Name Of Love,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” and “Love Child.”  She also played most of her solo classics like “I’m Coming Out,” “Love Hangover,” “Endless Love,” “Theme from Mahogany,” “Upside Down,” “Ease On Down The Road,” and “Touch Me in The Morning.”  The woman does not look like she’s aged at all, and her energy and voice were an inspiration.  Hearing several thousand people singing these songs in unison is a feeling that cannot be described, but if it could a word that comes to mind is “amazing!”  She said that her tour will probably be making stops in Europe and Japan, so if she comes to your city, SEE HER!

See a lot more pictures of Diana Ross as well as the setlist after the jump.  If you are a Diana die-hard, please help me fill in the gaps.  I put question marks next to the song titles I was iffy about as I wanted to enjoy the show, yet be the good little blogger that I am and provide the setlist for you.  UPDATE:  Thanks to my wonderful readers, they’ve helped me solve the uncertain song titles. Thanks to everyone for helping!  You rule!!!

Also, a video of “You Can’t Hurry Love” and “I Will Survive” will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!

it’s in my love/it’s in my spirit was “It’s hard for me to say” from “Red Hot Rhythm and Blues”, I was shocked and very pleased she sang it! It was great seeing her in her element again, she really shines when she’s performing at Radio City. Thanks for the review and recap.

This was Magnificent. The Marquee said “DIANA ROSS TONIGHT SOLD OUT”

This show was DIana at her best, it reminded me of the old DIana -Sparkling, shimmering, flirty. powerful, sexy. GREAT

The voice, the band, the songs the hair, the body, the gowns, the gowns- the gold multicolored gown – that looks like an electric current- is absolutely amazing.

The audience ate her up !!!!!!! standing up throughout the entire show-from the time she walked out until the time she disapeared. ..I loved It..

Last night’s show was AWESOME!!! She’s lost weight, looks great and if her interplay with the sax player during “The Look Of Love” (blue ensemble) had been any HOTTER, someone on that stage would have ended up pregnant!
I’m pretty sure that she performed “Take Me Higher” (1995) right before “Ease On Down The Road”.
If you’re going to see this show, STRETCH FIRST!! This this high-energy, yet elegant, cabaret-style show(That’s a compliment. I really like cabaret, a la Bassey, Streisand & Baker.)is incredible! She will keep you out of your seat ALL NIGHT!

As a child I grew up in Las Vegas I was fortunate to see Diana Ross perform several times at Caesars Palace. She just performed here in Oklahoma City, she is an amazing lady, and puts on an amazing show.
