Ron English and G

American artist Ron English is known as one of the fathers of street art.  Since the 1980s, Ron English has been hijacking public spaces with murals that blend stunning visual imagery with biting political and social commentary.  Some of his most popular targets include Joe Camel, McDonalds, Mickey Mouse and more recently his mashup of Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln.  He finds a way to speak volumes in a single image and his work has been a huge inspiration to me.  You can imagine my delight when I met Ron English the other night at the launch of Beyond The Street, an encyclopedia of Urban Art.  He was extremely nice and days after the encounter, I am still buzzing from meeting one of my heroes.  A documentary called “Popaganda – The Life and Crimes of Ron English,” was made about his life and it’s a must see film.  Thanks again to Ron English for creating such great art and for being so nice!
