Kaletski - Papaya Man

When I walked into the Dillon Gallery  in New York the other day, I immediately fell in love with their latest exhibit – Kaletski’s Carton of Eden.  Russian born artist Alexander Kaletski  is truly a renaissance man as he has written novels, acted, made music and also creates really great art.  For this exhibit, Kaletski has taken discarded cardboard boxes from products such as bottles of water and papayas and creates paintings on top of them.  I really thought this approach is unique and I always love it when I see artists thinking outside the box – or in this case – painting on top of the box!  The exhibit runs through June 6, 2010 so don’t miss it.  The Dillon Gallery is located at 555 West 25th Street, Tuesday through Saturday.
