Jeff Soto on the streets of Chelsea.
Native Southern Californian (hey Fullerton, what’s up!), Jeff Soto has a new art show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery (more to come on that amazing exhibit soon – stay tuned), and to celebrate, a few blocks away, Jeff Soto has left this image for all to enjoy. Thanks Jeff – I love it! I am really bummed I missed out on the opening of his exhibit, but I was off at the Creators Project seeing Interpol and Mark Ronson. It was a tough choice!

I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours, but I have heard on good authority that street artist Pussy Ham is the ex-girlfriend of fellow street artist Dick Chicken. I couldn’t care less actually, because I am loving the images I keep seeing around New York. I am hoping to go to a Vegan restaurant with Ms. Ham and Mr. Chicken one day. Wouldn’t that be amazing?! Please get in touch and let’s make this happen! My treat!!!

Stephen Hindman of the Golden Filter and G.
On June 26, 2010 at the launch party for the Creators Project at Milk Studios in New York, I met the electronic duo The Golden Filter. They have made many of my favorite remixes including “We Are The People” by Empire of the Sun, “New in Town” by Little Boots, “Lay It Down” by Peter Bjorn and John and their solo album “Voluspa,” which was released earlier this year, is pretty awesome as well. They were doing a DJ set which I also enjoyed and as the Golden Filter took turns mixing, I met both Stephen Hindman and Penelope Trappes, and they were both really cool. Thanks so much and looking forward to lots more great music!

Ben Vereen and G.
On June 28, 2010 after seeing an amazing performance of Savion Glover’s latest show “Sole Power” at the Joyce Theater, legend of dance and the silver screen, Mr. Ben Vereen was in attendance! Ben Vereen won a Tony Award for “Pippin” in 1973 and has starred in films such as “Sweet Charity” and “All That Jazz.” His latest show “Mama, I Want To Sing!,” is due to hit the Broadway stage later in 2010. He was extremely nice when I approached him to take a photo and I thank him kindly for the opportunity.

Savion Glover and G
Savion Glover is not just a dancer. His moves defy words and gravity! On June 28, 2010, I attended his latest show “Sole Power,” at the Joyce Theater in New York and it was absolutely incredible. I saw Savion Glover a couple of years ago and at the conclusion of the performance, I made a mental note to see him every time he comes around. He tears up the stage and his electrifying moves make you believe in a higher power. When he dances, you can almost see the creative spirit funnel down from the heavens and come out through his body. He makes dancing look so easy and it’s hard to watch him and not have your jaw drop to the floor in awe. He even performs to Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes!” I met him moments after his performance and he was super cool. Tonight was extra special as another dancing legend, Mr. Ben Vereen was in the audience. More on my encounter with him coming soon, so stay tuned!
Savion Glover’s show “Sole Power” is playing through July 10, 2010 at the Joyce Theater and if you are in the New York area you’d be foolish to miss this show! Thanks again Savion for an inspiring performance and for being a really nice guy!
