Concrete Jungle Divas by Sofia Maldonado at the Magnan Metz Gallery in NYC. Now through July 17, 2010.

Puerto Rican artist Sofia Maldonado has a really great exhibit at the Magnan Metz Gallery in New York called “Concrete Jungle Divas.”  She blends street culture and fashion trends in her wonderfully colorful works.  If you live in Manhattan, you have probably seen her mural in Times Square on your journeys through the center of the city.  This exhibit focuses on the power of femininity breaking through cultural barriers and many of the works were inspired by singers Lady Gaga, Rhianna, M.I.A., Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce.

Spot your favorite diva!

I attended the opening night reception at the Magnan Metz gallery on June 17, 2010 and I met the wonderfully gifted (and extremely beautiful) artist.  She was very nice.  A photo of my encounter with Sofia Maldonado can be seen along with another image from “Concrete Jungle Divas,” after the jump.  Thanks Sofia! Check this cool exhibit out at the Magnan Metz Gallery, located at 521 West 26th Street, now through July 17, 2010.

Thanks Lisa. I was just testing to make sure people are reading the fine print. You passed the test and the correction has been made!
