Martha Cooper and G

I’ll be writing about the book launch of Beyond The Street by Patrick Nguyen and Stuart Mackenzie for the next few days.  I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was lucky enough to be a part of this historic night.  It was the last event ever held at the legendary Deitch Projects in New York and many of the most prominent figures in the Urban Art movement were on hand to send off the gallery in style.  Martha Cooper is a photojournalist who specializes in anthropology and graffiti.  If you’ve seen any of the iconic images of New York graffiti from the 1980s, the chances are high that the photos were taken by Martha Cooper.  When I met her, she was extremely nice.  Martha, being the fabulous photographer that she is, was concerned if the photo I took of us came out ok and if you click here, you can see us reviewing the image.  I’d like to thank Martha Cooper for being extremely nice and for taking a lot of photos that have enriched my life.  You can see many more of Martha’s fabulous photos here.
