The Dodos!

On June 19, 2010, American indie band The Dodos opened for The New Pornographers at New York’s Terminal 5.  I am going to go out on a limb and say The Dodos stole the show.  They were excellent. Usually when you see an opening act, you can tolerate the first few songs and then the band plays 5 or 6 more songs, wearing out their welcome.  This was not the case with The Dodos.  They had raw intensity that burned like fire throughout their 40 minute set.  As this was my first exposure to their music and there was not a set list to be seen, I am not sure of the songs they played.  Dodos die hards, help us out!  They did mention several times in between songs that they were playing a lot of new material and I liked all of it.  If you go to their official site (link is above), by signing up on their mailing list, you can download a free 10 track live album, recorded in Prague!  Thanks Dodos.  You rocked!

Great Review! I’m not sure on all the songs, but I know they opened with “Trades and Tariffs”, later played “Men” and “Fables” and somewhere in there played two new songs (thus I don’t know their names).
