Mitchell-Innes and Nash in New York has a hot new exhibit called “Item,” and though the connotation of the word might make you think of ordinary items, this exhibit is filled with items that are extraordinary.  As you can see above in Rashid Johnson’s mixed media piece “Time Flies,” he has recreated a part of a bathroom with some special items in it such as a plant and an Al Green record (most likely to get you in the mood).  The exhibit features work from Erica Baum, Mel Borchner, Carol Bove, Mathew Cerletty, Liz Deschenes, Wayne Gonzales, Rashid Johnson, Giorgio Morandi, Allen Ruppersberg, Stephen Shore, Michael Smith and Roger White.  There are a few more awesome images from “Item” after the jump.  “Item” runs through August 13, 2010 at Mitchell-Innes and Nash located at 534 West 26th Street in New York.
