I’d like to wish the wonderful Lisa Coleman, 1/2 of the duo Wendy and Lisa, a very happy birthday today as she turns 50! Like myself, you probably first discovered Lisa’s music when she was in Prince’s band from 1979 – 1986. After leaving Prince, she formed the duo Wendy and Lisa with Wendy Melvoin, also from Prince’s band. Together they’ve made so many great songs that are always in high rotation on my stereo such as “Waterfall,” “Satisfaction,” “I Think It Was December,” “Skeleton Key,” “Don’t Try To Tell Me,” and “Balloon,” just to name a few. The Girl Brothers have also scored many films and TV shows (such as “Soul Food,” “Carnivale” and “Heroes”). I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Lisa on many occasions when I used to live in LA and she is always extremely nice. I hope she has a great day and I thank her for making so much music that has made my life a better place.
Also, on Wendy and Lisa’s official site, they are offering a free remix of “Sweet Suite,” so happy downloading!
