Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears

Happy 49th birthday to Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears.  Roland is responsible for serenading the world with great songs such as “Shout,” “Sowing The Seeds of Love,” “Break It Down Again,” and “Woman in Chains,” as half of the duo Tears For Fears.  The band has only released 6 proper albums and one collection of B-sides in their 25 year career, but they make a little go a long way.  Nearly every track on each album is perfection and if you are not familiar with non-singles such as “Swords and Knives,” “Who Killed Tangerine?” “Secret World,” “All of the Angels,” and “The Working Hour,” you’ve got some homework to do!  You ears will thank you for it.  Also, if you can track down Roland Orzabal’s solo album “Tomcats Screaming Outside,” it’s brilliant!  He jumped the shark by making a drum and bass album and it’s great!  Happy birthday Mr. Orzabal and don’t party too hard so you can make some new music for all of us.

I agree. Swords and Knives, what vocals and musical arrangement. One of the most lush and stunning songs I’ve ever heard. The same with Standing on the Corner of the Third World. The guy is brilliant. I also adore Secrets and The Working Hour is arguably one of their best songs. TSO is a really unique, great album. Maybe Our Days Are Numbered one of my favorite songs by Roland. Happy Birthday to a truly one of a kind.
