Britt Daniel of Spoon

Texas rockers Spoon opened for Arcade Fire at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 4, 2010.  It was my first experience seeing the Spoon live and I forking loved it.  Their music, though described primarily as indie rock has some pretty funky moments.  Spoon also beat a certain Lady to the punch by naming their 2007 album “Ga ga ga ga ga.”  They played hits such as “Jonathon Fisk,” “You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb” and the more recent “Written In Reverse.”  Lead singer Britt Daniel remarked to the crowd that it was an honor to play at Madison Square Garden and this was his first time ever setting foot inside the venue.  A pretty cool first time experience, according2g.  It’s fitting that Spoon and Arcade Fire played together because both of their latest albums “Transferrence,” and “The Suburbs,” respectively, are sure to wind up on a lot of year end best album lists.  A video of “Written In Reverse” is coming soon, so stay tuned.

See one more picture of Britt Daniel and the set list after the jump.

The setlist (to the best of my recollection) was:

Me and The Bean (Britt solo and acoustic) / Nobody Gets Me But You / Trouble Comes Running / The Underdog / Stay Don’t Go / Written in Reverse /I Summon You / I Turn My Camera On /The Ghost of You Lingers /You’ve Got Yr Cherry Bomb /Don’t Make Me a Target
Got Nuffin /Jonathan Fisk /Black Like Me
