September 7, 2010 in Los Angeles was a beautiful day. The clouds were out to keep the air cool and moist and then by afternoon, they blew away just like in the movies. My encounter with Paul Banks, the lead singer of Interpol, was like a scene out of a movie as well. I was watching the band rehearse in the parking lot of Space 15Twenty, prior to a very intimate show, to celebrate the release of the band’s 4th album, the self-titled album “Interpol.”
After the band finished rehearsing, Paul Banks was playing the drums and played catch with a crew member. When he was finished, I met him and he was extremely nice. He autographed Interpol’s new cd for me, which might just be the very first copy of the new release that he’s ever signed and happily obliged to take the above picture with me. Paul Banks asked if I’d be attending the show and I enthusiastically said “Yes!” As you have already read, I loved their performance a lot as the band was great and the weather was unbeatable. Thanks again Paul for being really cool and for providing me with an experience I’ll be loving for the rest of my life!
