David Salle and G

When David Salle was being introduced before a lecture at Christie’s in New York, his biography was beyond amazing.  The list of museums his work has been featured in topped 100!  He’s participated in all of the top world art fairs and in addition to being a master painter, he’s an accomplished sculptor, film maker as well as set and costume designer.  Whoa!  David Salle spoke about the concept of art before speaking about his own incredible career.  His talk was fascinating as he spoke about his influences as well as the fact that he thinks most critics of his work don’t get what he’s about. (Please note, I am paraphrasing, not starting rumors!)  One of my favorite parts of the lecture was when he talked about his brilliant painting “A Brief History of Christmas” and how it reads as a road map into his future works.  I definitely recommend you check out his works if you are not already familiar.  You’ll see why he’s received as many accolades as he has. I met the artist prior to his talk and as you can see from the above picture, he was very cool!  Prior to the lecture, I’d only seen one full exhibit in person and a work here and there, but after hearing him speak, I think I’ve opened a doorway to a lot of future enjoyment!  Thanks again Mr. Salle!  You are truly an inspiration!
