Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

One of my favorite writers of all time Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. celebrates his 88th birthday on November 11, 2010.  Sadly, he died on April 11, 2007, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate!  Though his books are filled to the brim with pearls, one of my favorite Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. moments is his role in the movie “Back To School” starring Rodney Dangerfield.  Rodney, a rich business man, decides to finish college to be closer to his son.  In addition to hiring Oingo Boingo to perform “Dead Man’s Party,” at a dorm party, Rodney hires Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. to write a term paper on – you guessed it – Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.  The professor gives Rodney a really low grade on the paper stating he “doesn’t know the first thing about Vonnegut.”  Genius!  Kurt, wherever you are, hope you are having a great day!
