Los Angeles – before you go away for the holidays, make sure you stop by the Corey Helford Gallery and check out Sylvia Ji’s latest exhibition “Shapeshifter.” Her works combine Native American mythology, folklore and motifs including shapeshifting – where a human acquires the ability to alter its physical appearance. This is the second exhibit I’ve seen in person from Sylvia Ji and I really love her work. In addition to the detail, the colors she uses are so great and each portrait has a back story that will definitely take your mind on a journey.
I was already in love with seeing Sylvia Ji’s work and when I headed upstairs, this New Yorker got a great surprise that a new work by one of my favorite artists Joshua Petker was hanging on the wall of the gallery!
“Shapeshifter” by Sylvia Ji runs through December 31, 2010 at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City located at 8522 Washington Blvd. Don’t miss it!
