Devin Therriault’s name is popping up on all the music blogs. Before seeing him live at Mercury Lounge on January 13, 2011, I was unfamiliar with his music. The descriptions of his sound in the blog-o-sphere say this: “Devin Therriault combines the sounds of ’50s rock and roll groups and ’60s girl groups with the intensity of punk and garage rock to create catchy songs with a feeling of familiarity. However, he still puts his own spin on every song. Therriault’s flamboyant stage presence mixed with his passionate vocal delivery make his performances extremely memorable. His energetic antics recall those of Iggy Pop and New York Dolls era David Johansen, while maintaining his own on-stage personality.” (source Brooklyn Vegan) That was enough to get me to the show and I have to say, Devin Therriault was great live! In addition to putting on a great show, by the end of the hour long set, Devin and his band mates were so into the song, they fell to the ground and finished up the song on the floor – to thunderous applause! Hear his music for yourself on his official Myspace page. The great news is, by signing up on his mailing list, you’ll receive a free MP3!
I met the star on the rise after the show and he seemed puzzled that I wanted to have a photo with him, but he was super cool once he realized what I was doing. Thanks Devin and good luck to you! I’ll definitely be a repeat customer!
