Last night on Twitter, the legendary Nile Rodgers posted a link to his website that revealed he is battling cancer. I ask that you take a moment and close your eyes to send your well wishes to Nile. I met Nile in May of 2010 and he was a really cool guy. After he took a photo with me and entered the venue, it hit me that I just met a man who is responsible for some of my favorite songs of all time! In addition to being a member of Chic, whose tracks “Good Times” and “Le Freak” will be club staples for as long as clubs exist, he co-wrote tracks such as “He’s the Greatest Dancer” and “We Are Family” for Sister Sledge. Those credentials alone are massively impressive, but he didn’t stop there. He also produced “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie, “The Reflex,” “Notorious” and “Wild Boys” by Duran Duran, “Like A Virgin” by Madonna, “Original Sin” by INXS, “She’s The Boss” by Mick Jagger, “Do You” by Sheena Easton, “Here’s To Future Days” by Thompson Twins and “Inside Story” by Grace Jones and the list goes on and on.
His music has provided all of our lives with so much happiness, I am confident I speak for everyone in just wanting to tell Nile Rodgers – THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS! Again, speaking for everyone out there, I would like to wish Nile Rodgers a very speedy recovery and please know that your fans are here for you. It’s the least we can do for all the joy you’ve brought us.
GET WELL SOON, NILE! WE LOVE YOU!
