Dance party alert!  Britain’s alternative dance band Friendly Fires played a sold out show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on February 7, 2011.  I’ve been recently getting acquainted with the band’s debut solo album, but this was my first time seeing them live.  Lead singer Ed Macfarlane is a non-stop energy machine on stage!  From the second the band started performing until the moment they exited for the final time, he danced and shook his arse for the duration of the show.  He danced so hard, in fact, that he pretty much sweatted through his entire shirt!  The set was great as they played “Paris,” “On Board,” and my favorite “Love Sick.”  A video of “Love Sick” will be coming soon, so stay tuned for another According2g world exclusive.  In the video, you’ll see exactly why Friendly Fires is a band to see live. The band’s horn section added a nice accent to the funk as well.  They will make you party!

Spotted in the crowd was Alex Frankel, lead singer of Holy Ghost! (who I incidentally saw perform an awesome show just last week).  The band’s sophomore record “Pala” will be out later this year and I am looking forward to it.  I had the opportunity to meet lead singer Ed Macfarlane after the show and he was so nice.  He chatted with my friend and I at the afterparty and he told us that when the band comes back around, they’ll be even better!  I can’t wait for that (which will be in May at Webster Hall).

Thanks again Ed, both for putting on a great show and for being a really cool guy!
