Cults

On March 31, 2011, New York based band Cults played a sold out show at Mercury Lounge.  If you’ve never heard them before, imagine the music of the Mamas and the Papas with Janis Joplin on lead vocals!  Holy cow!  I became an instant fan after the first song!  Their music is short and every track is catchy.  Occasionally, lead singer Madeline Follin shares vocal duties with Brian Oblivion (I hope that’s really his name because it’s awesome!). I think this is definitely a band to watch.  Though they are a tricky band to Google, I think it’s pretty safe to say, when Cults’ album is released in May 2011, they are going to have a huge cult following (pun definitely intended).  Final analysis: tough to Google, easy to love.

Thanks again to Cults for a great night of music, for being really cool people and for turning me into a fan!  Best of luck when your record is released.  I think the world is going to love it!
