Photos by G. Art by Nathan Spoor.
“Phantom Passport” by Nathan Spoor is now showing at the Bold Hype Gallery in New York. The Los Angeles based artist has created worlds that you don’t need a passport to enter. However, I should warn you that once your mind takes a trip to the places Spoor has created, you’re not going to want to come back. There’s so much going on in every painting and when you see the vivid colors and detail in person, you’ll be wowed. You never know what to expect in each painting as you’ll find elements of both joy and sorrow in his works. One thing can be expected though – you’ll be able to stare at each painting for a long time and still discover new elements in them.
Also on display is an exhibit of sculptures called “New Dimensions,” featuring art from Colin Christian, Chet Zar, Martin Wittfooth, Chris Ryniak, Brian Despain, Jason Freeny, Andrew Bell, Doctor A, Jason Limon, Amanda Spayd, Nicole Gastonguay, Douglas Hoffman and Debra Broz.
“Phantom Passport” by Nathan Spoor and “New Dimensions” by Various Artists are now showing at the Bold Hype Gallery (located at 547 West 27th Street, 5th Floor) in New York through June 3, 2011.
I attended the opening night reception for “Phantom Passport,” and I had the opportunity to speak with Nathan Spoor about his wonderful art. Naturally the first thing I had to ask was, “where do you begin?” Without revealing his trade secrets, Nathan Spoor gave me a look almost as colorful and mysterious as his paintings! See a photo from the moment after that conversation below.
Thanks Nathan for being so cool and for making such great art!
