New York!  Don’t miss a chance to see artist Rene Ricard’s first exhibit in Manhattan in over 20 years!  The exhibit is called “Sonnets from the Portuguese” and is now showing at Vito Schnabel (located at 522 West 23rd Street in New York).  The exhibit is inspired by ‘raiding his friends family photo albums’ from Lisbon.  On top of these scenes are short poems.

Obviously, this was my first experience seeing Rene Ricard’s works in person.  It was extra cool to see this exhibit as Rene Ricard’s articles in ArtForum catapulted two of my favorite artists, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, into superstardom.  “Sonnets from the Portuguese” is showing through June 23, 2011 at Vito Schnabel.  Don’t miss it!
