The Keith Haring Bathroom at the LGBT Community Center on 13th Street in New York
Keith Haring is one of my heroes. On his birthday, May 4, I went to the opening night reception of some previously unseen works. It made me realize that I’d never seen the mural he painted inside a bathroom of the LGBT Community Center in New York. The mural was painted in 1989 about a year before his death.
Admission is free and there’s a good chance you’ll have the experience I had where my friend and I had the room all to ourselves so we could spend some time alone in the same room where Keith Haring painted this gorgeous mural!
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center is located at 208 West 13th Street in Manhattan. The bathroom is located on the second floor.
