Homo Riot

Happy birthday to street artist Homo Riot!  I connected with his art from the first time I ever saw it because its placement on the street really breaks down a barrier.  We are constantly exposed to advertising featuring scantily clad women, yet when it comes to homosexual imagery, it’s rarely discussed without some sort of direct or indirect derogatory term attached and it sure as hell is not seen on the streets.  Homo Riot’s art is in your face, but not down your throat and it forces people to realize that seeing two men kissing is no different than seeing a man and a woman kiss.  There’s enough room on this planet for everyone!  Such an inspiration.  Homo Riot is quoted in a really interesting article about the Queer Street Art scene from SF Weekly, so definitely give it a read.  You can also celebrate Homo’s birthday in the best possible way by helping support the artist!  Sticker packs and prints can be purchased on The Site Unscene Shop.  You can also purchase different prints from Homo Riot at Maximillian Gallery’s official site.  Happy birthday Homo!
