Photos by G. Art by Samson Contompasis.
Samson Contompasis is an artist, writer and art curator. He operates the successful MarketPlace Gallery, which specializes in contemporary art, in Albany, New York and is taking a trip down south for his latest solo show at Manhattan’s Verlaine. Verlaine is a restaurant, which seems like an odd location for an art exhibit, but this is not Samson Contompasis’ first time in showing art in uncommon places. In 2010, he organized and participated in an exhibit entitled “Heavy,” which took place inside St. Joseph’s Church in Albany. As the title of this exhibit suggests, the locale is irrelevant in relation to the substance of the work.
“Substance” by Samson Contompasis is showing at Verlaine (located at 110 Rivington Street) in New York through the end of June 2011.
