Do you like the blues?  Do you like the blues?  Do you like getting funky from your head down to your shoes?  The Rockabilly/Blues label Ripcat Records showcased four of their artists over the weekend in Orange County, California.  Due to scheduling conflicts, I was only able to catch the first band, The Mighty Mojo Prophets, and I am happy to report – they rocked!  They call their style of music “west coast blues” and perhaps they call it that because you’ll feel anything but blue after you hear their music.  Most songs were original numbers written by the band, but they also threw in a rockin’ cover of Big Joe Turner’s “Shake, Rattle and Roll.”
