The David Lynch Foundation keeps outdoing itself. Several years ago, I saw a concert of epic proportions put on by the DLF. The show was at Radio City Music Hall in New York and it featured megastars such as Donovan, Paul McCartney, Eddie Vedder (as you can see above). The moneys raised from that show went to help children learn to meditate in schools as the participating artists felt their careers were indebted to their own meditations.
The David Lynch Foundation has announced the release of Download for Good: Music That Changes the World, a compilation to benefit the David Lynch Foundation.
The album features 33 renowned artists from around the world including Alanis Morissette, Amanda Palmer, Andy Summers (of The Police) with Geeta Novotny, Arrested Development, Au Revoir Simone, Ben Folds, Ben Lee, Carmen Rizzo with Grant-Lee Phillips, Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics), Donovan, Iggy Pop, Maroon 5, Moby, Nancy Sinatra, Neon Trees, Ozomatli, Peter Gabriel, Pink Jaffee with Jakob Dylan & Daryl Hannah, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Slightly Stoopid with Don Carlos, The Charlatans, Tom Waits and more.
The album is available as a whole or as individual tracks on Itunes. In every case, proceeds from the music will be used for David Lynch Foundation programs helping at-risk and under served populations who suffer from traumatic stress.
