Don Porcella and Brian Leo at Christina Ray
Photos by G. Art by Don Porcella and Brian Leo, respectively.
The summer season is notoriously known as a quiet time for the New York art world, but not for the Christina Ray Gallery. The Soho gallery has a hot new exhibit featuring the works of Don Porcella and Brian Leo. Don Porcella is famously known for his pipe cleaner art (see photo below) as well as his encaustic paintings. Brian Leo’s paintings address global culture, contemporary politics and American identity.
There are over 30 works in all sizes by Brian Leo on display at Christina Ray. Leo’s subjects range from the HIV crisis to environmental disasters to animals toting Ipads!
Don Porcella crafts a unique and humorous commentary on the human condition in both his encaustic works as well as his world famous pipe cleaner sculptures. You cannot see the detail in these photos so I encourage you to visit the Christina Ray gallery and see these wonderful works of art in person.
Brian Leo and Don Porcella’s art will be on display at Christina Ray (located at 30 Grand Street in Soho in Manhattan) through July 30, 2011. Don’t miss it!
