Photo by G. Art by William Powhida.
Artist William Powhida gives a nice big Eff you to the art world in his self-titled exhibit at the Marlborough Gallery in Chelsea. The opening night reception featured Absinthe being served on silver platters, a ton of art wankers, one painting in a gigantic space and a performance section, whereby the guy pictured above played Powhida and sat in a roped off area with some babes and drank champagne, ate candy and kept saying how bored he was. Perhaps you had to be there, but I was and all I can say is thanks for the free buzz and the opportunity to observe so many faces (of people who’ve not only had face lifts, but who probably make in excess of $100,000 a year) look absolutely puzzled while still trying to pull it off like they knew what they were looking at.
Powhida runs until August 12, 2011 at the Marlborough Gallery (located at 545 West 25th Street) in Manhattan.
