Chuck Close and Geoffrey Dicker

I love Chuck Close!  If you don’t know his work, he paints enormous canvases of faces with such precision, it’s often hard to distinguish his paintings from actual photographs.  I was able to get close to Chuck Close (wow, that was a bad pun) the other night at an art opening.  He was very cool.  I had the opportunity to tell him what a big fan of his work I am and he thanked me for my support.  Chuck Close’s life is extremely fascinating as he has a condition called Prosopagnosia, which hinders his ability to recognize faces.  He suffered a seizure in the late 1980s, which ultimately paralyzed him from the neck down, but that has not stopped him from adapting and continuing to paint.  What an inspiration.  Thanks again Chuck.  I am so grateful to have had such a positive experience with you.
