The hottest ticket in New York City on December 5, 2011 was Lana Del Rey at Bowery Ballroom.  Lana Del Rey was born Lizzie Grant and was rechristened Lana Del Rey to match the sound of her music, which she self describes as a “gangster Nancy Sinatra.”  A fair assessment I would say but I’d also add that her sound and style have little snatches of Patsy Cline, Alanis Morrissette, Amy Winehouse and Adele also.  She played a 9 song set and each song has an epic flair that is destined to make her a big star.  In between songs, she talked to the audience and appeared a little on the shy side.  When the songs kicked in, she wasted no time belting out powerful vocals and the crowd was enraptured by her performance for her entire 40 minute set.

She of course played “Blue Jeans,” “Video Games” and “Born To Die,” the title track off her soon to be released album (scheduled for January 2012).  Lana Del Rey debuted the track “Summertime Sadness” and mentioned that it sounds really beautiful on the album.  A video will be coming soon so stay tuned!  Each of her songs has an epic and film noir feel and after hearing most tracks of what will be on the album, I think it is poised to be one of the best records of 2012.

Lana Del Rey is on fire!  She’s being talked about on every music site.  Most sites are saying good things, some sites are not.  That made me extremely curious to find out how she would be when I talked to her.  Find out after the jump and also see the setlist.  If you have not heard Lana Del Rey’s music yet, you are in for a treat and pretty soon, you won’t believe you ever lived without her songs in your life.

Lana Del Rey was so nice!  What a sweetheart!  She was totally cool and we chatted about a song she recorded with an another According2g favorite, Penguin Prison.  She even sang a little bit of it for me.  So great!  She was very happy to sign my “Video Games” single as well, imported fresh from my trip last week to Los Angeles.  I wished Lana Del Rey great success, and I have no doubt she’s going to be a huge star!
