Take a ride on the freeway of love (and absurdity) New York! Make sure you check out “The Rise And Fall of Western Civilization (and Other Obvious Metaphors)” by Matthew Sleeth at the Claire Oliver Gallery in Manhattan. The British artist has taken over the gallery with a really cool exhibit that examines Eastern vs. Western ideologies. Across the gallery, you’ll see 33 unique works of art disguised as freeway signs with phrases that will make you question what is more important – the journey or the destination? Laid out as a vast highway, as you take a trip from the front to the back of the gallery, you will see signs such as “Stay,” “Change” and “Happiness = Expectation/Achievement.” The pictures cannot do the exhibit justice, so head over to the Claire Oliver Gallery to walk down Matthew Sleeth’s long and winding road. You might even arrive at new philosophical destination by the time you’ve reached the end of the road.
The Claire Oliver Gallery is located at 513 West 26th Street in Manhattan.
