An Encounter with Dick Cavett

On February 11, 2012, I was in the presence of greatness!  The Dick Cavett show had its first run before my time, but thanks to the magic of DVDs, I’ve been able to see Dick Cavett interview Hollywood, comedy and musical legends from Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin to Katharine Hepburn and Marlon Brando.  His show was so ahead of its time as he really helped show sides of famous icons that were rarely captured on film.  Dick Cavett interviewed Raquel Welch as part of a retrospective on Raquel’s film career and seeing this interview in person was such a treat!  I met Mr. Cavett before the interview took place and he could not have been nicer.  He was very gracious to take a photo with me and moments later, a female friend of mine asked for a photo as well and Cavett replied, in typical Dick Cavett fashion, “I thought you’d never ask!”  Wow!  If you have not seen the Dick Cavett Show box sets, I urge you to remedy that immediately! Every episode is amazing.  Thanks so much Dick!
