If you’re a fan of David Lynch’s work and you live in the New York area, you will not want to miss the artist’s first solo exhibit in Manhattan since 1989!  I attended the opening night reception at the Tilton Gallery and had a really amazing experience with one of my heroes!  In addition to David Lynch’s unparalleled artistic vision, Lynch is a huge advocate of meditation.  He believes meditation strongly contributed to his success and through the David Lynch Foundation, he organized a benefit concert a few years ago to help raise money and awareness to help get a mediation program in schools.  Joining the bill were A-list stars that also attribute their success to meditation including an extremely rare performance of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on the same stage!, Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Jerry Seinfeld and Howard Stern just to name a few who contributed.  The event changed my life and it’s one that I reference frequently amongst the best concerts I’ve ever been.  I was able to have some one-on-one time with David Lynch to tell him how great that evening was and also asked him to sign a couple of “Twin Peaks” items for me and could not have been more receptive and nice!  Whoa!  Moments later, the gallery whose entry line went around the block swarmed and descended on David Lynch in a scene that could have been out of one of David’s movies in terms of being extremely surreal.  Lynch posed for photos with anyone who asked, and by the time I left, it appeared that he said yes to the entire gallery!  Very very cool, according2g!

The exhibit features paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photographs, and drawings and is on display at Tilton Gallery (located at 8 East 76th Street) in New York and will be showing until April 14, 2012.  Thanks again David!
