Screwtape

Screwtape is hitting the nail on the head with his sentiments (as least as far as New York street art is concerned).  We are in a time of great social and political unrest and this is the time to express these thoughts in the streets.  Instead, as a general rule (and you know who you are), the same old street artists are putting up the same old stuff in New York when all the other major markets have new, exciting, thought provoking and fresh street art constantly?

Yes, I realize there are a lot of rules and laws in New York that are not in favor of self-expression, but aren’t rules meant to be broken?  That’s a lost art that is just begging to be rediscovered, according2g.

This also applies to the world of “fine art” where I think I might puke if I have to look at one more artist rendering of icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson or Twiggy.  Why waste your talent recreating something that has already been recreated ad nauseum?  Is that really all you’ve got?

So what are you going to do about it?
