Cloud Gate by Anish Kapoor in Chicago

“Cloud Gate” also known as “The Bean” by Anish Kapoor in Chicago is probably the coolest public sculpture you will ever see.  It looks like a bean made out of liquid mercury, but in fact is stainless steel.  Situated in the center of Chicago’s Millennium Park, from every possible angle, the reflections you see are spectacular.

Whether you are seeing mirror images of the magnificent skyline of Chicago or just distorted images of the people looking at their reflections, you could literally spend hours at Cloud Gate without ever getting bored.

Underneath the center of “the bean” was perhaps the trippiest view of all.

Of course, you can’t just see Cloud Gate by day.  You must check it out at night for a completely different perspective.

It was also very cool to see so many people that might not typically be so into art interact with the sculpture and be so enamored with it.
