Adam Ant!  One of the musical gods of the 1980s played his first show in New York in over 15 years on October 6, 2012 at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.  This was a show that almost didn’t happen as it was originally scheduled for February of this year and got canceled only to be rescheduled 8 months later.  The show was sold out, so obviously New York more than forgave Adam Ant for the cancellation.  Looking a lot like Johnny Depp, Adam Ant took the stage around 9 pm and played a 28 song set that lasted about 2 hours.

He wasted no time digging deep into his back catalog with songs such as “Dog Eat Dog” and “Beat My Guest,” and played songs spanning his entire career including his last charting hit “Wonderful” and we even got to hear a cover of T. Rex’ “Bang A Gong.”  He was very animated, dancing all over the stage and playing guitar.  Though his band does not have any original members, they were great, with two drummers and the songs had much more of a rock feel than new wave as on his albums.

The place went crazy when Adam performed some of his biggest loved hits like “Prince Charming,” “Desperate But Not Serious,” “Strip,” “Room at the Top,” “Vive Le Rock” and “Goody Two Shoes.”  Adam mentioned that he’s done recording his new album and he expects it to be released in January of 2013.  Hopefully that means Adam will not be so scarce in concert because it was really great seeing Adam back in action. Judging from the fact that most shows on this tour have sold out, his fans feel the same way.

Have waited some time for this…and I really enjoyed every minute of it. A great list of songs ….I thought I knew them all , but there were two that even I wasn’t familiar with! Right up front and danced and smiled the whole time. The songs did have a decidedly rock-vibe and 30 years later, it makes sense to update!

I was at the Best Buy Theater to see Adam Ant and it was super mega epic awesome. After so many years he still has it with his provocative hip swiveling moves. The entire band was absolutely tight. He got a very great reception from the audience. The best night of my life. I also had the meet and greet and had the honor to meet Adam in person. He was so charming a perfect gentleman. The meet and greet was very well organized and I had the honor to spend a few moments with Adam, it proves that dreams do come true if you keep believing. Greatest moment that I will cherish forever.

It was a great show! Got to meet Adam at the meet and greet after and when you think about how exhausting it must be to put on a concert like this and then to stand and meet total strangers, sign autographs, have camera flashes in your face all night long…my wife and I were next to last on a very long line and honestly, he was greeting us as graciously as if we were the first people he saw. Really down to earth and NICE! As Silvana said a real gentleman! Surprisingly, maybe a little on the shy side. Can not wait to see him again. By the way, his band …TOTALLY ROCKS!!!! I love Jola!!!
