NYC!  Return to the glory days of the New York art scene and check out the latest exhibition of Mark Kostabi’s work at Martin Lawrence Galleries.  Though I’ve been to Kostabi World many times, this the first proper exhibit I’ve seen of Mark Kostabi’s art and seeing so many works in one space was a really great visual experience.

Works varying in size, paintings, drawings and sculptures are on display and I would estimate that there are over 30 paintings in the exhibit.  As so often featured in Mark Kostabi’s work, there are subliminal tributes to legendary artists past and present, pictures within pictures and there are clever word plays disguised in the action that takes place in the portraits.

The gallery also has works on display by Keith Haring, Picasso, Murakami and Warhol.  So make sure you stop by and see these art all-stars!

Martin Lawrence Galleries is located at 457 West Broadway in New York.  Art by Mark Kostabi will be showing through the end of 2012.  Don’t miss it!
