On September 9, 2013, on the eve of the release of her new album “Feels Like Home,” Sheryl Crow performed an intimate and swanky invite only show to be taped for an upcoming upcoming episode of The Artist’s Den. The taping took place at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The stage was set up like a living room (including a couch!) when the show started and Sheryl and her band did an ‘unplugged’ section to get the crowd going. She kicked off with “Strong Enough” and then she shared a story of meeting Cat Stevens before playing her cover of “The First Cut Is The Deepest.”
She also talked about Johnny Cash covering her song “Redemption Song” and said, “the only more flattering than Johnny Cash covering your song is Johnny Cash calling to ask if you liked his cover of your song.” Apparently, Cash died about 3 months after recording the track. Once Sheryl Crow plugged back in, so to speak, she played “My Favorite Mistake,” “Soak Up The Sun,” “Every Day is A Winding Road,” “All I Wana Do,” “Steve McQueen” as well as many new tracks from “Feels Like Home.”
Sheryl Crow mentioned that she has called Nashville home for the last 7 years and she was persuaded by Brad Paisley to record a country album. This episode of The Artist’s Den with Sheryl Crow is set to air in late 2013 or early 2014, so check your local listings!
