Grateful Dead: Boogie 'Til You Barf!

Attention Deadheads!  The New York Historical Society has an exhibit of Greatful Dead merchandise, memorabilia, concert posters and barf bags on display at the Grateful Dead: Now Playing at the New York Historical Society, showing now through July 4, 2010.  The pieces in the exhibit are on loan from the Grateful Dead Archive.  While I enjoyed the exhibit due to the surreal imagery that the Dead has used throughout their career, I thought the exhibit would have been bigger than it was.  In fact, the items for sale in the gift shop were almost as impressive as the exhibit itself.  See some more pictures after the jump.

Rat Pack Tattoo!

The owner of this tattoo asked to keep their identity a secret, so I will keep my promise.  I would like to thank this stranger in the night for allowing me to photograph this really cool tattoo of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. (aka The Rat Pack).

On March 9, 2010 at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York, there was a book launch and comedy show to celebrate Candace Reed and Kitty Martini’s book Thank You For Firing Me!  Whether you’ve been recently laid off, or you finally told that c–t boss of yours who she really is, you’ll want to pick this book up.  Thank You For Firing Me! gives tips and advice for those who are suffering the financial crunch in the Great Depression 2010.  On hand for the launch of this book was comedian Rich Vos who has appeared on 2 Comedy Central specials and won ”Last Comic Standing.”  His standup routine literally had me in tears from laughing so hard.

Just so you know, I am not continuing the rumour that Jesus was gay.   Elton John started it!  “Did not,” Said Elton.  “Did too!”  Said G.

I will say that he definitely wasn’t white and you can quote me on that!

A rare glimpse of Prince smiling on 6/16/06 in New York

I was digging through the G photo archives today and when I found the above photo, I realized that it’s very rare to catch a glimpse of the Purple one smiling.  However, when you are posing for G, how could you not bust a grin?  The above and below photos were taken on June 16, 2006 when Prince was on Good Morning America.  He performed “Get On The Boat” (with Sheila E.), “Redhead Stepchild” (with Tamar) and a verseless version of “Let’s Go Crazy.”  I was lucky enough to be in the front row to watch my purple idol perform, and I loved every second of it.  After the jump, see an exclusive photo of Prince giving the “O” face.  I hope the purple police do not come after me for posting these photos, because I mean only love and I own all of his albums and have bought tickets to see him in concert no less than 50 times (and every single time was life changing!)

Lily Allen is taking a break from music for awhile to open a clothing shop in her native England.  The Sun is reporting that Lily’s adventures from being a pop goddess to shop owner will be chronicled in a new reality TV show.  No other details are available at this time, but if the show is anything like Lily Allen’s performances, this will be highly entertaining.
