Adam Ant and Geoffrey Dicker 2013

ADAM ANT!!!!  One of my favorite kings of the wild frontier is back and better than ever with a new US tour that is kicking off this week.  He was in New York doing some promotion and I was fortunate enough to meet the new wave icon!  I had a slight fan-boy moment when I told Adam that I loved him, but it’s true!  Adam Ant’s music has rocked my entire life and I still listen to his music a lot – from the b-side “Yours, Yours, Yours” to the 12″ version of “Vive Le Rock” and of course songs like “Strip” and “Stand and Deliver” are always in high rotation.  You can catch Adam Ant singing some of these songs live if you live in the USA on the following summer 2013 tour dates (see below), via Adam Ant’s official website.  You can also see pictures and a review of Adam Ant’s tour from last year in New York at this link.  Thanks again Adam and I am going to say it again, I love you!!!!

Did you really think I was going to go see Adam Ant’s first show in New York in 17 years and not take a video?  Not a chance.  One of my favorite songs of the night (and all time Adam Ant songs) was “Strip.”  So here you go… Adam Ant.  Strip.  Live in New York on October 6, 2012.

Adam Ant!  One of the musical gods of the 1980s played his first show in New York in over 15 years on October 6, 2012 at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.  This was a show that almost didn’t happen as it was originally scheduled for February of this year and got canceled only to be rescheduled 8 months later.  The show was sold out, so obviously New York more than forgave Adam Ant for the cancellation.  Looking a lot like Johnny Depp, Adam Ant took the stage around 9 pm and played a 28 song set that lasted about 2 hours.

He wasted no time digging deep into his back catalog with songs such as “Dog Eat Dog” and “Beat My Guest,” and played songs spanning his entire career including his last charting hit “Wonderful” and we even got to hear a cover of T. Rex’ “Bang A Gong.”  He was very animated, dancing all over the stage and playing guitar.  Though his band does not have any original members, they were great, with two drummers and the songs had much more of a rock feel than new wave as on his albums.

The place went crazy when Adam performed some of his biggest loved hits like “Prince Charming,” “Desperate But Not Serious,” “Strip,” “Room at the Top,” “Vive Le Rock” and “Goody Two Shoes.”  Adam mentioned that he’s done recording his new album and he expects it to be released in January of 2013.  Hopefully that means Adam will not be so scarce in concert because it was really great seeing Adam back in action. Judging from the fact that most shows on this tour have sold out, his fans feel the same way.
